چکیده

Background/Introduction Minimally-invasive cardiac surgery is increasingly used in conjunction with peripheral cannulation. However, due to the relatively small diameter of the access vessels, thin walled venous cannulas are usually used in conjunction with augmentation. We have previously reported about 36F self-expanding cannulas which allow for remote cannulation and full flow (2.4 l/min m2) by gravity drainage. The new, smaller virtually wall-less 24F cannulas which pass through an 18F percutaneous orifice were designed for augmented venous drainage.

Neurological Study of Radial Nerve Conduction During Endoscopic Radial Artery Harvesting:An Intra‐Operative Evaluation

Endoscopic radial artery harvesting (ERAH) is a feasible and attractive minimally invasive approach for conduit procurement, however there have been concerns about a potential neurological damage occurring at the harvest limb site secondary to injury of the radial nerve during endoscopic harvesting. We present a case of ERAH in which we evaluated intraoperatively the characteristics of radial n...

The Evaluation of Survival in Patients Who Need Intra Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) after Cardiac Surgery

Introduction: Insome cases, assist devices are required to ensure an adequate cardiac output after cardiac surgery. Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) is the most commonly used cardiac assist device, which provides first-line support for patients with heart failure. The aim of this study was to determine factors affecting the mortality rate of patients receiving IABP. Materials & Methods:  In thi...

Problems of Cold Agglutinins in Cardiac Surgery: How to Manage Cardiopulmonary Bypass and Myocardial Protection

Cold agglutinins are of unique relevance in cardiac surgerybecause of the use of hypothermic cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Cold autoimmune diseases are defined by the presence of abnormal circulating proteins (usually IgM or IgA antibodies) that agglutinate in response to a decrease in body temperature. These disorders include cryoglobulinemia and cold hemagglutinin disease.Immunoglobulin M aut...

eComment: Rationalizing the use of assisted venous drainage during minimally invasive valve surgery.

Nomenclature Historical Pages-1.80 m , AVD is unlikely to be required, and, therefore, 2 should not be routinely included in the CPB circuit unless required intraoperatively. This rationale would also have cost-saving implications. Our study also suffers a number of limitations. First, despite all data being prospectively recorded, it has been analysed retrospectively. Second, the patients were...

ترانسفوزیون اتولوگ در جراحی قلب، بیمارستان امام، 80-1379

Preoperative autologous blood donation is commonly used to reduce exposure to homologous blood transfusions among patients undergoing elective cardiac surgery. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of autologous transfusion on patients' hematocryte value, intra and postoperative blood loss, hospitalization time, the development of infective complications and other factors. Materials ...
